History of AOPE

Association of Power Engineers, MeECL, Meghalaya

Foundation and Initial Mandate

The **Junior Engineers Association** was established on **09.02.1964** at **Namrup, Assam**.

The Association was formed to represent the Diploma Engineers of the Engineering discipline of the Board. Its key objectives include:

  • Upliftment of the service cadre.
  • Developing unity, integrity, and brotherhood among all members.
  • Settlement of various service-related grievances.
  • Acting for the all-round development of the department, encompassing perspective planning, Generation, Transmission, Distribution, and rural electrification for the socio-economic progress of the state and the interest of the consumers.

Evolution and Renaming

Following the attainment of statehood by Meghalaya, the Association was renamed as the **Junior Engineer Association ASEB and MeSEB**. This name was maintained until the date of the bifurcation of the power entities.

The **Association of Power Engineers (AOPE), MeECL, Meghalaya** was born on the date of bifurcation: **18.01.2019**.
